About FileWift
FileWift is a batch image converter with a simple architectural stance: your files never leave your device. Every conversion — decoding and encoding — runs locally in your browser using WebAssembly. There is no upload endpoint, no storage bucket and no server-side processing, because there is no server doing anything at all.
That design gives you two things at once. First, real privacy: photos, documents and IDs you convert never travel over the network. Second, no artificial limits: since your own CPU does the work, there is no per-file cap, no size cap and no queue to wait in.
How it works
- Files are read directly from disk into your browser's memory.
- HEIC decoding uses your browser's native decoder where available, with a WebAssembly fallback everywhere else.
- JPG encoding uses MozJPEG, WebP uses libwebp, PNG uses libpng — the same proven codecs behind Squoosh, compiled to WebAssembly.
- Converted files are saved straight back to your device.
